Jane Benson splits instruments down the middle (violins, guitars, etc) and hires musicians to play duets with both halves.  In addition to a number of half-and-half sculptures (see my sketch below), there's a fantastic video of two displaced Iraqi brothers that now live in two different countries, playing a half-and-half duet over Skype. (read full explanation).  Beautiful on so many levels.
