Invisible Sculpture... of Money: Mike Bouchet

TENDER by Mike Bouchet

Marlborough Gallery, Chelsea NYC. Ends 25 February 2017

Artist mike Bouchet, Tender. It's not what you see, it's what you smell.

What it is:
There is NOTHING in this large gallery EXCEPT for the smell of Money.  Yep.  The artist spent over a year working with an expert perfumer to identify all the highly particular scents of the various inks, fibers, and "human smells" (due to handling) to replicate the smell of US currency exactly.

Why it matters:

I have no idea.  Honestly it's just straight up weird, and provides some solid conversation ammunition for the next time there's an awkward pause in a conversation "Hey did I ever tell you about the time I went to an empty room to smell money". #partyhero

And for those that just pulled a dollar out of their pocket and are aggressively sniffing it right now.... yep... that.
